Here is a comparison between two sedans – the Nissan Sunny and Honda City. Although it is acknowledged that Nissan is much behind Honda in terms of success and popularity, the new Sunny model seem to be a tough competitor to the much loved City.

Lets have a look on New Nissan Sunny Features. The New Nissan Sunny which was outin July 2014 is based on its tenth generation model, but it receives comprehensive updates inside and out, making it bolder, more attractive and even more desirable. The New Sunny 2014 strengthens the Japanese automaker’s presence in the sedan segment.

The first car launched by Honda in 1998 was the City, whose sales then overtook most other cars in the sedan segment. The current model belongs to the fourth generation. City has until now thrived in the market, thanks to Honda’s goodwill here and their trademark styling plus other advantages like low maintenance and smooth mechanics.

The New Sunny gets a stylish look especially due to the generous chrome detailing around the car. It looks more commercial and luxurious. On the other hand the City though stylish, looks comparatively conventional. City has always been admired for its beauty. It is pretty difficult to judge the cars on their looks as both carry their own charm.

Now coming to the interiors, the Sunny is slightly more spacious, but Honda gives its passengers a more premium feel and comfort. Both the cars share same features list like reverse camera, advanced music system, USB/Aux-in/Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted controls, ABS with EBD and dual airbags.

Both Sunny and City are available in petrol as well as diesel engines. In both the cars, the petrol engines are paired to either a 5 speed manual or CVT, whereas the diesel engine comes mated to a 6 speed manual transmission only. Nissan Sunny petrol model is a 1.5litre HR15DE unit with 98 PS power with an ARAI rated mileage of 16.95 kmpl, whereas, the diesel is a 1461cc 4 cylinder engine which has a fuel efficiency of 21.64 kmpl and produces 86 PS maximum power. Honda equips the City with either a 1.5 L SOHC i-VTEC petrol mill or a 1.5L DOHC i-DTEC diesel engine producing power of 117 bhp and 99 bhp, respectively. Their ARAI certified mileage comes to around 18 kmpl for the petrol variant and 26 kmpl for the diesel one. In terms of performance, mileage and driving dynamics the City definitely outsmarts the Sunny.

The top end model of Sunny is priced at Rs 7.99 lakhs while that of City is pricier at Rs 9.37 lakhs. Price conscious customers may buy the Sunny, but those who count on performance, handling and mileage should certainly go for the City.
